I just went and saw Order of the Phoenix (late night showing - no kids...it was nice). AND THE MOVIE WAS FUCKING GREAT! Best one by far. Now I'm all jazzed for next Friday night when I wait in line at midnight for the book. Woohoo!

I saw it yesterday. I really enjoyed it, but they really did leave out some important plot points.

I'll be seeing the IMAX version at the end of the month, I think. :)

True, some things were missed, but the movie was already 2 hours and 20 minutes long...at least they didn't make the glaring ommission like Goblet of Fire did about how Harry's Wands and Voldemmort's wands can't fight because they both share Fawkes' feathers. I'm fine with what was left out of OOTP. As tohipanna mentioned, they left out a lot of Tonks, but I never really liked Tonks so I'm fine with that. And St. Mungo's, well...I think it's ok that it didn't get filmed. For having to adapt an 800+ page book into a movie, they did a great job. Much better than the hot mess that was Goblet of Fire. I still like the stylistic nature of Prisoner of Azkaban, but OOTP was much more faithful to the book. And 7 DAYS FROM NOW I will have FINISHED reading Deathly Hallows!!!!! Woohoo!

Cunt. It will take me awhile to finish Deathly Hallows. I'm not a really fast reader. Dammit. :)

I'm excited and sad about next week. Hubby wants to go to a wine festival next Saturday, and of course... HELLFUCKINGNO. Which he doesn't quite get. Bebo, refusing to go and booze for a book? No, Bebo refusing to go and booze for THAT book. Big difference.

The Boy and I are watching movies 1-3 this weekend. I think he's OK to see those, and we'll start reading book 1 together soon, since he's reading on about that level. I'll have to help him with a lot of the "magic" words, but that's OK...

I can't wait to see the movie again and pick up on the stuff I missed (stuff that the geekier-than-I fans have discussed in the read_hp community).

There was not nearly enough Snape in OOTP. :) Gawds, I don't care if Alan Rickman is 61, I'd so hit that.

You and me both sister. He's a good part of my bedtime fantasies.

In a "I love Snape and Alan Rickman" sense, I agree. But from a cinematic standpoint, they did a good job taking page after page after page of Snape drama and pared it down to where you get the gist of it. I know Snape's Worst Memory was too short, but you understand that Snape hates Harry because his father was an ass to him.

About reading the book fast, I'm just glad that the wedding I thought was on Saturday is really on Sunday (hooray for Jews!) so I don't have to wait in line at midnight, read the entire book, take No Doz and be at a wedding by 1pm.
