Went to LA!
Oct. 17th, 2010 03:11 pmI wanted to go to Union Station, Olvera Street, Philippe for lunch and then Chinatown, but despite weather.com saying that it would be partly cloudy with a 10% chance of rain, it was raining on and off and I didn't want to get my camera wet, so I didn't make it to Chinatown.
But I did do the others, and here are the pics! Let the mushrooms in my front yard welcome you in:

Going to the fair!
Jul. 15th, 2010 10:04 amI don't think I've been to a county fair in at least 2 decades. But Mom, Dad and I are going to the Santa Barbara County Fair in Santa Maria on Saturday to see The Beach Boys! It will be an interesting experience to say the least. I'll bring my camera and take all sorts of weird pictures. I'm looking forward to this I want to eat deep fried things that shouldn't be deep fried. And see cows and shit.

Mmmmm...experimental cooking
Mar. 9th, 2010 08:49 amI'm going to make a sort of bastardized shepherd's pie today, with ground beef, Ro-Tel tomatoes, green beans and shredded cheese, with box mashed potatoes and shredded cheese on top. I think that will be tasty, no?
I'll take a picture of it for
trashy_eats.
ETA: The first two parts:
( clicky for noms )
Now it's baking merrily away!
ETA: It's done! My cooking pan was too small and it bubbled over a lot, but thankfully I foresaw that and put foil down underneath it in the oven to catch the drippings. It was a little too wet, I think from the tomatoes and green beans (I drained them both), but it's really tasty!
( clicky for the final outcome )

Wow McDonalds
Mar. 5th, 2010 11:50 amMy boss went to McDonalds for Filet-O-Fish Friday and I asked him to get me a side salad with the light Italian dressing to go with my frozen Trader Joe's Three Cheese Cannelloni. I am amazed! This salad is made with expensive lettuce (not just iceberg) and it's fresh and green. And the dressing is Newman's Own! And all for $1.19!
McDonalds, I am impressed.
Hahahaha I sound like American Psycho ("And Michael was wearing a lavendar Armani suit with a Rolex and Ferragamo loafers...").

I would charter a jet, and go to:
1) Napa, CA and eat at The French Laundry for dinner.
2) Fly to Tokyo and spend a night wandering the streets of the city, eating ramen & yakitori, taking in sights, singing some karaoke.
3) Fly to Bejing and go to The Forbidden City, and eat weird street food.
4) Fly to Rome and go to The Vatican to see the Sistene Chapel and eat dinner at La Pergola.
5) Fly to Paris, visit the Musee D'Orsay, get some amazing cheese somewhere and get some amazing pastry somewhere and go to L'Ambroisie for dinner.
6) Fly to London, see a weird play, go to the British Museum and go to Simpson's Tavern for dinner.
7) Fly to Las Vegas gamble in the high stakes room at The Wynn and then go eat at Burger Bar.
8) Fly back home to LA.
You are all welcome to join me.

I thought after the trauma of this morning's fire, I should post some happier pics. I spent the day at Mom & Dad's watching football, eating good food and hanging out with family. It was nice.
Let the happy goldfinch butts welcome you in!

( clicky for the wonderfully mundane )
You know, I saw fire images on TV several times today and each time they gave me a shudder and my heart would race. I'm really sick of fires. It was so fucking scary this morning being woken up with the noise and peeping through my blinds and seeing a wall of fire right outside the window. I really need to go away from this obnoxious and really dangerous arsonist. Quit picking on our alley!

I got a pre-made ready to heat & eat Jambalaya at Fresh & Easy (I bought a whole slew of these kind of meals there...it's such a bargain and everything is fresh...they're refrigerated and only good for a few days at most) and am eating it for lunch and it is spicy!
Really tasty though. And only $2.99! Better than going to El Pollo Loco or Chicken Ranch and blowing $9 on lunch.

Mmmmm...Pad Thai.
Aug. 24th, 2009 12:19 pmI bought this little frozen Pad Thai meal from Fresh & Easy and I'm eating it right now for lunch. It's really good. I love all the Fresh & Easy food. I'm so excited for its presence in Lompoc.
So, updates:
1) Apparently there is a serial arsonist in Lompoc:
http://www.kcoy.com/global/story.asp?s=10643083
I e-mailed this story to Mom & Dad last night and Dad says he's seen a few of the burned out vehicles while he and Mom are out serving. No wonder the fire sergeant wasn't too worried about the perpetrator coming back - the device was probably a signature of sorts and apparently he(they) pick targets at random. So at least that's good.
2) First night of school! I'm 1L! Tonight is Criminal Law. Woohoo! I'm so excited.
Ok...time to finish my lunch because I have to brief at least one Torts case at lunch today.
