My Daddy loves me!
Jun. 11th, 2009 08:55 pmI stopped by my parents tonight to pick up a grocery card and some Advantage they picked up for my cats (I found a flea on Theo this morning) and my Dad said he had a present for me.

It's a Harry Potter 20 Questions game! He found it today at the $.99 store. Cool, eh?
My Daddy loves me. He just gets me sometimes.
ETA: This is so cool. It managed to guess right Lily Potter, Luna Lovegood, a Goblin, and Viktor Krum. It did not however guess Nearly Headless Nick and I won that time. I'm going to be the Goblet of Fire next and see if it gets it.
ETA2: It got Goblet of Fire, Dolores Umbridge and Mundungus Fletcher. So cool!
ETA 06:08am 06/12/09: It got Madame Rosmerta and Borgin & Burke's!

I am currently reading The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which you Potter fans know is the collection of wizard's fairy tales as talked about in The Deathly Hallows.
I am quite enjoying it, especially the commentary by Albus Dumbledore, and I have to say that there is a scene in The Warlock's Hairy Heart which is deliciously disturbing.
I hope she keeps writing little gems like these. They are a lot of fun and help with the Potter withdrawals.

Well this is disappointing...
Nov. 8th, 2008 04:06 pmYour result for The Sorting Hat Test...
Squib
You scored 36% Slytherin, 32% Ravenclaw, 32% Gryffindor, and 24% Hufflepuff!
Are you sure that you belong at Hogwarts? You show no defined personal characteristics and therefore no house preference. Perhaps you should seriously consider a lucrative career in dentistry or tax preparation -- or allow the Sorting Hat to redetermine your place at a later date.
Your result for The Harry Potter Husband Test...
Mrs. Longbottom
You like the nice guy. You don't need the best looking guy, or the most talented, or the most popular, or the most powerful. You want a guy who'll be there when you need him, who knows how to stick through the hard times, and who stands up to even his friends when necessary. You can't go wrong with a guy like this. Sure, you may not have the most exciting life with him, but it'll be a good one.
So now that you know....

J.K. Rowling outs Hogwarts character
By HILLEL ITALIE, AP National Writer
"Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall.
After reading briefly from the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," she took questions from audience members.
She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love."
"Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause.
She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down."
Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy."
"Oh, my god," Rowling concluded with a laugh, "the fan fiction."
Potter readers on fan sites and elsewhere on the Internet have speculated on the sexuality of Dumbledore, noting that he has no close relationship with women and a mysterious, troubled past. And explicit scenes with Dumbledore already have appeared in fan fiction.
Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," she spotted a reference in the script to a girl who once was of interest to Dumbledore. A note was duly passed to director David Yates, revealing the truth about her character.
Rowling, finishing a brief "Open Book Tour" of the United States, her first tour here since 2000, also said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority."
Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason."
I'm still not sure what I think.

Boredom driven Harry Potter Meme
Oct. 5th, 2007 01:20 pmOk hyenas - I'm really bored here at work. Since I've been listening to the Harry Potter books on MP3 from start to finish (I'm just starting the Half Blood Prince), I was thinking about how you would rate the 7 books, and why. Rate them with #1 being the best to #7 being the worst.
( Spoilers for all 7 books ahoy )

This makes me laugh.
On to things that don't make me laugh, someone on wtf_inc (or was it bad_porn_2? I can't remember) had an icon on their post which had a very nasty thing which was either a spoiler for Deathly Hallows or a joke. I'm going to be pissed if it was real. So, be warned. I swear I almost want to turn off my internet until I finish the book in 6 days.
