Unsecured WiFi!
Sep. 3rd, 2007 09:17 pmI'm sitting here in my new apartment, lamenting the fact that I have no DSL until Wednesday and no channel on the TV but CBS until the dish guy comes on Saturday. Then an idea hit me - I have my parents' laptop for when I go back to school in a few weeks, and it has a wireless network card. I thought to myself, "Let's just spark it up and see what happens." And wouldn't you know it, but there's an unsecured network in my neighborhood! So I have slow internet, but it's still internet. I am so happy. I'll only log in here. No e-mail or banking. If they want to read my blog, so be it.
I'm all moved in, but I have to unpack everything still. But the cats are here now, away from my mother's two harpies...they are de-stressing. But I get to sleep in my own bed tonight. Blissful sleep. I am so tired. But happy for it to almost be done.

Hairball drama...
Aug. 13th, 2007 08:29 pmTheo has been battling a hairball for about 10 days. As you know, both boys are shedding madly and I think Theo is grooming Joe a lot and also grooming himself. I brush them at least once a day but they are still shedding hair everywhere. About 2 weeks ago Theo horked up a monster hairball, but about 10 days ago he started feebly hacking again, especially when he would get into purring. I've been giving him Petromalt every day, and they already eat Iams weight control/hairball formula, but this stupid hairball will not pass.
So, I'm googling home hairball remedies, to see if I can add to the ammunition. What did I come up with? Baby food squash. Apparently the fiber content helps push things through. So, tonight at the grocery store I bought a jar of organic baby food squash, and an oral medicine syringe. I first tried getting Theo to lick the squash from a spoon, but he was having none of that, so here I am, holding Theo to the ground and squirting squash goo into his mouth. Once I did it though, he actually seemed to like the squash and I was able to shoot 2 more syringes full into his mouth with little struggle.
The things we do for our pets. Hopefully I'll find a giant hairball filled turd in the litter box in the next day or two. I'm giving him some more squash in the morning and tomorrow night too.

Shedding Amusement
Aug. 5th, 2007 07:54 pmThe cats are shedding their entire coats this weekend, and I have been brushing them several times a day, but the hair keeps falling off. I swear! One week of heat and they lose all their fur. Anyway, I had fun with Theo:

Hardwood floors...
Aug. 1st, 2007 09:09 pmI thought having an apartment with hardwood floors would be cool, funky, kitschy and a joy to have.
Unfortunately, it's extremely painful to live in an apartment with hardwood floors. My right foot has so much pain in it; my ankle hurts and every step on it in this apartment is painful. I've lived here since March and I'm glad I'm moving in 6 weeks, because I couldn't deal with it anymore.
Then it breaks my heart to see Theo also kind of hobbling around too. I think the hardwood floors are hard on him as well, and I can't wait to get him to a carpted apartment. I have rugs all around the bed and he has steps that he can walk up and down on to get on and off the bed, but I think both of us fatties aren't doing too well with rarely having any padding under our feet. I'll be very glad to move.
As an aisde, I'm crying right now because of a routine on So You Think You Can Dance. How nutty is that?
Also, I'm on day 5 with no caffeine. Grrr...
