In this part of the country you'll see an ad selling an old car advertising it as a "California car." Dunno if you know this, but all it means is the car has little rust. Dry climate and all that. Here in the midwest, cars rust like crazy from a combination of the humidity and salt on the roads. Anyway, that was my first thought when I saw the pic. I thought, "Hmm, a California car."
Cars last forever in Southern California. No rust at all. I see 50s and 60s cars all the time (not a lot of 70s cars - they seem to have been junked more) and even the occasional Model A or Model T, but those have probably been completely re-fabricated.
