I'm always surprised when my land line rings. I hardly ever use it. My parents always call my cell, my friends always call my cell. I wouldn't even have a land line if it didn't come in a cheap bundle with my DSL and DirecTv.

I had a landline at my apartment before the cable service got changed, and want to have one again so that people at the front door don't end up ringing my cell phone.

But when I had that landline, all I got were calls from the front door, as intended, and … telemarketers.

I think I shall make it very, very clear the next time I have a landline installed that, if whoever sells me that service also sells my phone number to anybody else, I will personally come down there and skull-fuck every last one of them.
