I have weird shit all over the floor and vacuuming is a precise operation - I worry a Roomba will get stuck and suck up something strange. I have considered it.

I don't mind vacuuming. It's the picking-all-the-shit-up-off-the-floor-so-that-I-CAN-vacuum bit that I hate with a passion.

The vacuuming I don't mind, even though I have to do all of it owing to Mrs. Gein's "bad back" (the proper medical term for which is how conveeeeeeeeeeenient). What I care less for is the pre-vacuum raking of all the carpets. Even with a high-end vacuum, I still have to remove a majority of the dog fur by hand or else risk certain destruction of said high-end machine. The berber is a one-pass affair, but the Persian carpets have to be brushed several times to get all of the golden out of the pile. This is the one significant drawback of having golden retrievers ... unless you count Stella's newest habit, which is pulling out her winter undercoat, eating it, and then barfing at 2:30 a.m.. I guess she doesn't want to see her second birthday.
