Deer!

I am taking care of all of the creatures tame and wild at my parents' house while they are on their road trip to the Grand Canyon, and today while I was there taking care of the cats, the fish, and feeding the wild tree birds and ducks, a deer came out to lick seed from the bird feeder and to drink from the bird bath. I happened to have my phone in my pocket so I snapped some pics.

I saw a young buck and then this doe came. Did you know that deer squat to pee like a dog? Here is a peeing deer:



And here is the deer sticking its tongue into the feeder:

Hey, I had no idea a deer peed like that! I thought they were more like cattle or horses. I was wrong.

Deer come through the golf course all the time. Especially now that it's getting warm and the water in the hills has all dried up, they come down into civilization to get water. I saw three deer at Mom and Dad's tonight while feeding the cats.

This also means that the deer are more out in the roads on my drive to and from work, but since I got my deer whistle, they've been staying away. I guess that $5 piece of plastic really works. I have actually seen a deer last week turn and run the other way as my car approached. Totally bizarre.

I didn't know a deer peed like that,either. I just never really thought about it. It really made me chuckle, but it was more fun to be a smartass. :)

I need to buy deer whistles for the whole famdamily. They all have a habit of hitting deer.
