May. 13th, 2007 10:07 amOn CNN's "This Week At War" just now, a talking head referred to the Iraq war as "The Whack-A-Mole Effect". I mean, it is an apt description - every time we secure one city the violence pops back up in another city and by the time that violence is quelled, it's back up again in the first city. But the weirdness of that metaphor just has me shaking my head.
