Damn, that's creepy!

I agree with the Canadian comic Lorne Elliott; although he was talking about lobsters, I think it applies to crabs, too: "The first man ever to eat one of those musta been some jeezly hungry, eh?"

I wonder how soft the shell is after that and how long does it take to harden up again? Interesting. I could google it but I'm too lazy.
