OMG Jon Stewart vs. Jim Cramer!

If you guys get a chance, you NEED to see Jim Cramer on the Daily Show tonight. It was a thing of beauty. Absolutely amazing. Stewart skewered Cramer. Absolutely skewered Cramer and vicariously, the entire financial industry and the financial media. Bravo!

Just watched the clip-- I think Stewart went way too easy on Cramer. JS should've replayed the clips he ran Tuesday night of Cramer pimping Bear Stearns when he knew BS was in the crapper.

Also ... considering that Comedy Central takes enormous advantage of the fact that a lot of people look to The Daily Show as a serious news source, Stewart lambasting Cramer for making entertainment out of the financial maelstrom is, at best, a little hard to swallow. And I am a huge Stewart fan as well as a major Cramer critic.

Well, he did admit that they were both snake oil salesmen, but Stewart said at least he was upfront about snake oil, whereas Cramer is selling snake oil as multivitamins. I thought Stewart was good and humiliated him just enough. It was already painfully awkward...more would have been overkill.

I just think Stewart and his writers need to reality check themselves a little more often. If JS is going to take such a moralistic, judgmental position, he cannot simply dismiss what he's doing as comedy, snake oil sales, or entertainment. He's coming dangerously close to Rushoid demagoguery and his immunizing comments smacks of trying to have things both ways and avoiding responsibility.

Hey, I love Jon ... I just really hate moralistic, judgmental demagogues. Of any persuasion.
