Anyone want my computer? Computer Claimed!

It's a 1.6 Ghz Pentium Dual Core processor. The hard drive that is currently in it is apparently missing some drivers that aren't enabling it to install Windows on it (this was my secondary drive that never had an OS on it before I installed Ubuntu/Linux on it, which by the way runs beautifully without issue, I just don't like the clunky flash) and the drive is 160 gigs. It has 1 gig of RAM on board. It has been a great computer that served me well for 4 years until this crap happened that has gone beyond my expertise, but the drive that had my Windows on it that got the virus failed and is no longer in the computer. The drive that is on it is a good drive.

I'll pay to ship it, or I'll bring it to you if you're local. So if anyone wants a free computer that runs Linux beautifully (great computer for a kid who doesn't have one yet) the drive on it has been completely reformatted and has Ubuntu/Linux on it now.

If no one wants it, I'll just take it to the recycle.

Not that I pretend to understand such things, but I have never heard of not being able to install Windows on a particular hard drive. Are we talking XP, Vista, or Windows 7? I know you have gone through the details but I have lost the thread in all the details.

Rather than get rid of the entire computer, why don't you just install a refurbished hard drive (if that is indeed what the problem is)? You can get a 500 gb for as little as $50 or so.

If you still have it, I'd LOVE to have it. BUT, you must let me pay shipping. Let me know either way.

My desktop was F--ed up a few years ago and once I put Avast in it I was able to get it back up. Did you ever try Avast?
